The football turf is the best alternative to natural grass considering its advantages such as its resistance to different weather conditions and ability to sustain more intense use. The International Football Association Board (IFAB) decided at its Annual General Meeting in February 2004 to approve artificial turf surfaces for international competition matches provided they fulfil the requirements of the FIFA Quality Concept for Football Turf standards.
The quality can vary among different artificial grass systems. Therefore, FIFA developed standards considering players’ needs.
The latest technology is named as 3rg generation (3G) which consists of artificial grass and infill materials such as SBR granules and silica sand. Some systems also include sock absorbing units like shock pads.
There are 2 main FIFA standards. “FIFA QUALITY”is mainly for community, recreational and amateur football fields. This standard is suitable for 40-60 playing hours per week. Second one is “FIFA QUALITY PRO” which is designed to fulfill professional safety and performance standards, which is suitable for 20 playing hours a week.
B&CSSPORT can provide both FIFA QUALITY and FIFA QUALITY PRO standard football turf. Please get in touch with us for more information.
FIFA accredit manufacturers provided they met criteria mentioned in FIFA quality program and called them as “FIFA Licensed Manufacturer”. In 2009 FIFA also announced “FIFA Preferred Manufacturers” which can fulfill both production and installation of artificial grass.
In addition to FIFA licensed and FIFA preferred manufacturers all turf manufacturers who met International Match Standards, can replicate the same quality criteria as the FIFA Quality standard.
